Dorothy and Elizabeth Iguchi
Dorothy (8) and Elizabeth (4) are two sisters who live in a Japanese Internment camp for four years of their life. Their story is interesting because it is told through a child’s perspective. The two sisters went through a traumatic, historical event and did not even realize all the terrible things that were happening around them. Their parents made it feel like a summer camp and the one word that they used to describe it was ‘fun’. After being taken away from home at such a young age, they were able to come back home and live their lives just like other children. Being able to return home was all because of their father. He was a big family man who had friends that looked after their home while they were gone, so when they returned , they could go back to their normal life as quickly as possible. He cared very much about them and wanted the best for his entire family.
